I started regularly photographing in Elizabeth Park in late March 2020 through 2022. At the time, Covid and working from home meant abandoning nascent projects that requiredtravel and contact with people. Instead I started frequenting the park more regularly, first on weekends and then at nearly any opportunity I find. I’d always wondered about what it would be like to focus on one subject throughout different seasons, light and moods. This gallery represents a portion of what I’ve discovered during this yearlong project.

The park covers over 100 acres and was initially designed by Olmstead and Son in 1897. In 1904 the Rose Garden was established and has become the park’s centerpiece attraction. I’ve always been fascinated by how we alter and define landscape. While the rose garden isa prime example of a unique, planned environment, it also exists within the larger universe of asmall urban park. The garden’s core features along with unique plantings and walkways are partof a shifting landscape of micro environments whose character constantly changes with time of day and season.
